Three Pinoy indie films will be screened at the 5th CPH PIX, an annual film festival to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark on April 11-24, including “Diablo,”“Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay,” and “Thy Womb”.
The three films were commended in the fest’s website. Ramon Mez de Guzman’s “Diablo” is described as an “excellent and extremely well-produced drama.” “Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay” by Antoinette Jadaone, on the other hand, is deemed “touchingly sensitive” as it is “intensely moving” and “extremely relevant.”
Brillante Mendoza “Thy Womb” was also applauded by the website and describes as the multi-awarded director as “the Philippine film industry’s front-running maverick.”
Recently, Mendoza and “Thy Womb” star Nora Aunor won the best director and best actress recognition at 6th ASIA-PACIFIC Awards (APSA).
There are three other Filipino films will be featured at the 14th Jeonju International Film Festival, to be held in South Korea from April 25 to May 3. Dwein Baltazar’s “Mamay Umeng,” and Shireen Seno’s “Big Boy” – both CinemaOne Originals entries last year – as well as John Torres’ “Lukas Niño (Lukas The Strange).”
