The family of the 26-year-old gang rape and murder victim Anria Espiritu in Calumpit, Bulacan expressed dismay over the progress of the case, as the jeepney driver tagged as the third suspect may be released.
The family fears that Elmer Joson, the jeepney driver who was arrested at the wake of Anria Espiritu, will be able to get out of jail within 36 hours since he hasn’t been charged.
Charges have yet to be filed because of weak evidence, especially since the witness who can counter Joson’s claims has backed out, the report said.
Two other suspects had earlier been arrested and interrogated, but they haven’t been seen by the family.
