Tyler Seguin had two goals and two assists to power the Dallas Stars to a 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets Friday night at the MTS Centre. The Stars scored three goals in the first period which proved to be more than enough to beat the slumping Jets.

Acquired from the Boston Bruins in the off-season, Seguin showed why he was selected second overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The Stars opened the scoring on the power play as Seguin fed Alex Chiasson a pass deep into the Jets zone sliding one past goalie Ondrej Pavelec.

Just over two minutes later, Seguin put the Stars up 2-0 as he fired a blistering shot for his first of the year.
With 3:25 left to go in the first period, Stars forward Jamie Benn won a battle in front of the Jets net and put the Stars up 3-0. Seguin would put the Stars up 4-0 at the 5:10 mark of the second period with another slap shot to cap his four point night.

The lone bright spot for the Jets was the third period goal by Blake Wheeler on the power play. It was his first of the season but it was too little, too late, as the Jets dropped their third consecutive game.

Ondrej Pavelec stopped 27 of 31 shots and Kari Lehtonen started the game for the Dallas Stars but later left due to a lower body injury. Dan Ellis would relieve Lehtonen turning away 22 of 23 shots.

The Winnipeg Jets lost to the Minnesota Wild the previous night and fatigue might have been a factor for the home squad but addressed some areas one night later. After getting outshot and beaten in the faceoff circle the past few games, the Jets managed to outshoot the Stars 44-31 and win 40 out of 64 faceoffs.

Winnipeg continues their six game home standing on Sunday as they welcome back a familiar MTS Centre face. Goalie Cory Schneider, who played for the Manitoba Moose, will don a New Jersey Devils sweater after being acquired via trade during the Entry Draft. The Jets are now 2-3-0.
