The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) continues to monitor the Mayon Volcano in Albay. Based on Phivolcs’ 24-hour observation, moderate emission of white steam plumes that drifted northeast was observed.
According to Phivolcs Mayon Volcano’s alert status remain at Level 2, the data “indicate that the volcano may have been experiencing increased volcanic gas emission and slight but persistent swelling due to the intrusion of magma beneath. Phivolcs advised the public not to enter the six-kilometer permanent danger zone “to minimize risks from sudden explosions, rockfall, and landslides.”
