The Manitoba Association of Filipino Teachers, Inc. had a joyous and well-attended Christmas party with MAFTI members, family, and friends on December 3, 2022, at the Philippine Canadian Centre of Manitoba (PCCM). With lots of gifts, food, and prizes to be won, the celebration became a memorable afternoon filled with games, merriment, and picture-taking. MAFTI also got to meet Santa Claus, who greeted them with hugs and smiles.
The Christmas event was highlighted by the launching of a Filipino Bilingual Program poster. Mr. Rod Cantiveros, a supporter of the Filipino Heritage Program with his two grandsons, Lorenzo and Luc Cantiveros, and Catherine “Tek” de Leon with her talented daughter Jade Castillo (MAFTI’s Filipino Heritage student) are on the poster. The Filipino Bilingual Programming for the school year 2022- 2023 at the Winnipeg School Division will start in Kindergarten and Grade 1. The launching of the program drew significant interest in Filipino Canadian parents to register their children as it gives families a sense of pride whenever they hear their children speak the Filipino language with them and when they get back home.
MAFTI also launched its new logo created by the 2nd Vice-President, Michael Valdez. Congratulations to the Executive Officers and Board of Directors of MAFTI headed by the President, Maryjane Napolitano, who organized the Christmas Party, and of course to a lively emcee, Nestor Ching, and Cecil de Guzman.
May this Christmas Season bring peace, love, and joy to everyone.
