The Manitoba Association of Filipino Teachers Inc.( MAFTI) celebrated its 35th Anniversary of its inception at the Canad Inn Polo Park on Friday, December 7th. The gala anniversary event was well-attended by its members, guests, and founders led by Lolita Oandasan, the first president of MAFTI. Awards for excellent service were given to Rosalinda Cantiveros (posthumous award), award of which, was received by her son, Ron Cantiveros; Caridad Rino, Mrs. Gory Parado, and Dr. Rev. Neil Parado (posthumous award). The leadership award went to Gemma Dalayoan who has served the association for the third time as president. The audience was delighted to be entertained by MAFTI group of dancers led by Catherine Ofiaza. Carmela Co and her son also played their guitar. A power point presentation of MAFTI’s past activities took place presented by Portia Malolos while waiting for the main course. Greetings from the Provincial government and the City were given by the Minister of Culture, Heritage, and Tourism, the Honourable Flor Marcelino and Councillor Mike Pagtakhan respectively. Christmas carols were sung by the members led by Jean Guiang OM. The gala was emceed by Ernesto Ofiaza Jr.
