In convincing fashion, Jon Reyes, PC candidate for St. Norbert steam rolled over NDP incumbent Dave Gaudreau in the polls during the 41st Manitoba general election on Tuesdaynight. With 51.6% of the popular vote, Reyes won with 4,666 votes compared to 3,047 for Gaudreau. The huge margin of victory was the extreme opposite of the election results back in 2011. Gaudreau (NDP) won the St. Norbert riding in 2011 by a mere 31 votes over the PC candidate.
Jon Reyes becomes the first Canadian-born Filipino member of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly. Surrounded by family, friends and supporters at his campaign headquarters Pembina Hwy, Jon addressed the jubilant crowd after local media reports announced he won riding. In his victory speech and with his family at his side, he commended the hard work of everyone on this campaign team for their support, dedication and efforts to during the nomination and election campaigns. After several congratulatory photos and lots of post-election winning selfies, Reyes joined the rest of the PC Party at their election headquarters at Canad Inns Polo Park.
