Chrissie Arnold, Director of Advisory Services at Slack was in Winnipeg last month at the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce luncheon as she shared key findings from Future Forum’s “Global Pulse Survey”. The survey involved 10,766 individuals and cited flexible work policies as the number one factor that has improved their company culture over the last two years.

We’ve all heard about the war for talent in the tech industry, but what can IT professionals do to stay ahead of the competition? One of the key ways that businesses are addressing the war on talent is by offering flexible working arrangements. This can include things like flexible hours, remote work, and job-sharing.

Did you know 73% of employees are open to new job opportunities if they are unsatisfied with flexibility? Flexibility is 2nd only to compensation in driving satisfaction.

We all know that traditional 9-to-5 jobs aren’t always conducive to a healthy work/life balance. That’s why more and more companies are offering flexible hours as part of their recruitment packages. If your job allows it, you may be able to start earlier or later than usual and have greater control over when you take breaks throughout the day. This flexibility can help you manage your workload more effectively and make sure that you get enough rest throughout the week. In The Future Forum Report, workers who have full schedule flexibility are reporting 29% higher productivity and 53% greater ability to focus than workers with no ability to shift their schedule. Employees want a choice where they can untether from the “9-to-5, Monday to Friday in the office” way of working. Here are some numbers to consider:- 80% want flexibility in where they work and more importantly, 94% want flexibility in when they work.

Remote work is becoming increasingly popular among tech professionals, especially those with families or who live in remote locations. If your company offers remote work options, you may be able to work from home or from any other location with an internet connection. This means fewer distractions from colleagues or other office noise, so you can focus on your tasks without interruption. It also means that no matter where in the world you live, if your skills are strong enough to qualify for a certain position then there is nothing stopping you from getting it!

Flexible working arrangements offer great benefits for both employers and employees alike—they allow employers to access top talent no matter where they are located while giving employees greater freedom over how they manage their workloads and spend their free time. So if you’re an IT professional looking for a competitive edge in today’s market then consider looking into flexible working arrangements as part of your recruitment package! With these options available to you, beating the war on talent should be easier than ever before!
