City of Winnipeg’s Citizen Equity Committee holds Christmas reception

Numerous guests and volunteers graced the Christmas reception sponsored by city officials and members of the City of Winnipeg’s Citizen Equity Committee, a group whose members are from the various ethnic communities in the city of Winnipeg. Food and drinks were served and special entertainment by two lovely girls who performed a dance. The announcement of this year’s Youth Model Awards was distributed to the guests in order to spread the information to all sectors in the ethnic communities in Winnipeg.

A special award of appreciation was presented by City Councillor Mike Pagtakhan, committee’s chairperson, to the former member, Robert M’vondo, for his oustanding performance in the committee.

Every year, the City of Winnipeg’s Citizen Equity Committee offers various awards to recognize the success and efforts of the outstanding youth of Winnipeg in the following categories: advocacy, sports, community health and wellness, community volunteering, performing arts, creative arts, education and training; and Rosalinda Natividad Cantiveros award for courage.

You can nominate a youth today for these awards. If you know a (15-24 years old) who makes a difference in their community and deserves recognition for their efforts, nominate them for a Youth Role Model Award! Winners will receive awards at the 2012 Youth Role Model Awards Ceremony.
