Bagong Dating Explores Wonders of Winnipeg

Sama Summer kicked off the Filipino Journal’s Bagong Dating (new immigrants) Explore Winnipeg City Tour as it rolled through Winnipeg in luxury bus full of new comers excited to discover what the City of Winnipeg has to offer. Sama Summer is a unique initiative of the Filipino Journal and the Rosalinda Natividad-Cantiveros Foundation.

From The Forks, the tour passed by at the soon-to-be-opened Canadian Museum for Human Rights; along Broadway Ave highlighting the Fort Garry Hotel and the Manitoba Legislative Building. The tour continued through Osborne Village and down Pembina Hwy with Investors Group Field as the first hop-off point for a special after-hours view from inside the home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

After a short tour through the University of Manitoba campus, the continued to the St. Norbert’s Farmers Market site. As the bus rolled through Fort Richmond, the on-board prize draws included Blue Bomber gear and tickets to upcoming Blue Bomber games.

From St. Norbert, the next two stops included the home of Louis Reil and St. Vital Park before heading to the Canadian Mint. As a special surprise for everyone on the tour, one final pitstop was the 31st floor of Prairie 360, a revolving restaurant behind the Fort Garry Hotel and, the best place to see the 360 degree-panoramic view of Winnipeg.
