To the Karaoke Jr. Stars: Congrats and Good Luck!
Three Filipinos made it to the Winnipeg (Manitoba) leg of Karaoke Star Jr.—Moises Duot Jr., April Rose Llave, and Andrea Macasaet. After a weeklong online and text voting that followed the April 6 telecast of their live performances, 14-year-old Macasaet emerged as Manitoba’s representative to the national singing competition. She would be going to Calgary, Alberta, where the finals would be held. To the two who wouldn’t be going, don’t lose heart. Remember that you two are still the second and the third placers, respectively. In competitions like that, winning isn’t everything. It’s not the ‘be-all, end-all.’ As the cliché goes, “It’s the journey, not the destination.” In this same vein that what counts best when you don’t emerge as number one in any competition is you took up the challenge, expressed your art, showcased your talent, opened for yourself doors of opportunities, met new friends and acquaintances, and most of all, learned and gained new experiences.
