St. Peter Church’s Freedom Walk and Run celebrates wellness of body and soul

The freezing cold on that Saturday morning, April 9th, the kickoff of the 1st St. Peter Church’s Freedom Walk and Run did not deter the passion of the old and the young to walk and run for a good cause: raising fund for a new building for the church. The participants, ages 8 to 76, had to warm up before the start of the fund raising event. Hot coffee and Zumba dance triggered the interest and enthusiasm of the walkers and runners.

Men and women,young and old alike were registered for the 10K, and 5K and 1K family . Seniors who participated include Leonor Gatdula, 76; Gloria Boychuk and Rod E. Cantiveros, vp Marketing of the Filipino Journal and president of the Cantiveros Family Food Ltd, both 74 and the youngest, Kingston Sy Moore, age 5 and a kindergarten at Meadows West.Msgr. Enqique Samson, the parish priest and Luchi Sanchez, the coordinator, were busy making the participants alive and kicking.

Winners were awarded prizes and participants were given certificates of appreciation. The winners include Griffin Pagtakhan, Samuel Rancourt, Doug De Jong, Candice Slowik and Lynette Trinidad.

The 2nd St. Peter Church’s Freedom Walk and Run 2017 is already planned.
