The annual celebration of the Mother and Father of the Year by the Original Filipino Senior Association of Manitoba (OFSAM) is a recognition of the role of parents in our family. The honorees are selected among the members of the association.
This year’s event is a very special occasion when Rene and Thelma Macaro, a husband and wife team, were proclaimed as the OFSAM’s Father and Mother of the year at a dinner dance held at Viscount Gord recently.
Together with their family members, officers and members of OFSAM and some special guests, the celebration honoring the Father and Mother of the Year 2017 went with pageantry as the officers, former awardees and guests offered gifts, flowers and sash and special greetings from St. John’s MLA Nahanni Fountain and Burrows MLA Cindy Lamouruex. Special musical number was performed by Mercy Cuaresma. Special prayer was given by Letty Duque Antonio, the president of OFSAM.
