‘Rainbow’s Sunset’ dominates MMFF awards

The most number of awards in this year’s edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival went to “Rainbow’s Sunset.”

The LGBT-themed drama produced by Heaven’s Best Entertainment won the best picture award, as well as the best director honor for Joel Lamangan. Veteran performer Gloria Romero was proclaimed best actress, while Eddie Garcia was awarded a Special Jury Prize for an actor. Also getting the jury’s nod were Tony Mabesa and Aiko Melendez as best supporting actor and actress, respectively. The best screenplay award went to Eric Ramos; while Max Collins got the Special Jury Prize for an actress. The film also received the Gatpuno J. Villegas Cultural award, as well as the best original theme song trophy for “Sa’yo Na.” It also copped the best production design award.
