Proposed SAF movie elicits mixed reactions

Former Laguna Governor ER Ejercito intends to produce a movie about the controversial Mamasapano clash that claimed the lives of 44 Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) commandos, 18 Moro rebels, and at least 3 civilians in a police operation that also killed Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan.

ER, also known as Jorge Estregan, Jr., shared on Facebook a conceptual poster for the movie titled “SAF: Special Action Force” with the tagline “Para sa Diyos, Para sa Bayan, Para sa Tao.” The poster has reportedly garnered more than 4,500 likes and has been shared more than 600 times.

However, the post elicited mixed reactions from netizens. Some commented on the inappropriate timing since the issue is still being deliberated upon in the senate and in congress. Others agreed with ER and even suggested to donate the proceeds of the movie to the families of the Fallen 44. Still others regarded the post as mere propaganda

The actor-politician has done several historical movies including the life of Asiong Salonga and General Emilio Aguinaldo.
