Oak & Grain wins Inaugural Fried Chicken Fest Bragging Rights

Chef Kelly Cattani of the Oak & Grain can proclaim, “Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner” as the voters have cast their online ballots and bragging rights for winner of the inaugural Fried Chicken Fest. The winning fried chicken dish from Oak & Grain was a 3 toasted slider buns stuffed with lightly pickled cucumber salad, mayo, lettuce, and buttermilk fried chicken.

Fifteen Winnipeg restaurants competed in the week-long culinary competition featuring signature fried chicken dishes.

Oak & Grain at the Hilton Winnipeg Airport Suites located at 1800 Wellington Avenue. Restaurants participating in this year’s Fried Chicken Fest include: The Oak & Grain, Promenade Cafe & Wine, The Tallest Poppy, Have A Nice Day, Santa Lucia Pizza (St. Mary’s Road), Underdogs, Pineridge Hollow, KYU Grill, Blaze Restaurant & Lounge, La Carnita Winnipeg, Inferno’s on Academy, Brazen Hall, ERA Bistro, Summit Cafe, The Merchant Kitchen, little goat food & drinks, The Cornerstone, and Little Bones Wings.

The creators of Fried Chicken Fest are Susie Erjavec Parker and Allan Pineda. Susie is the principal of SPARKER Strategy Group and has extensive restaurant and food marketing experience. Chef Allan is the creator of Baon Manila Nights and produces pop-ups around the globe. They roughed out Fried Chicken Fest over a restaurant table in the heart of Winnipeg and the rest is history. “We’re delighted with the feedback on this first event, and we expect Fried Chicken Fest to only get bigger and better,” said Susie Erjavec Parker.
