The Philippines’ bet Maureen Wroblewitz is the winner of “Asia’s Next Top Model” as announced during the Wednesday, June 28 episode.
The 19-year old Maureen, the youngest among the contestants, bested Malaysia’s Shikin Gomez and Vietnam’s Minh Tu Nguyen in the finale challenge to become the first contestant from the Philippines to win the popular modeling search.
As part of her prize, she took home the coveted contract with London-based Storm Model Management. She will also appear on the cover of Nylon Singapore’s online edition, in addition to being featured in other high-profile fashion campaigns.
Before the announcement, she shared that she dedicated all her efforts to her mother, who passed away when she was 11. Her journey to the title was marked by a “bullying” episode when her fellow contestants, led by Indonesia’s Clara Tan, labeled her as just a “pretty face with no skills.”
Two other Filipino representatives, Anjelica Santillan and Jennica Sanchez, were eliminated early in the competition.
Maureen was born and raised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She moved to Germany at the age of 12. She began modeling when she moved to the Philippines at age 18.
