The Filipino Members Chapter of the Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba held its 2019 Annual General meeting last February 23 at Victoria Inn on Wellington Avenue. The chapter, with about 350 members is composed of Filipino men and women professional engineers, engineering interns and students in Manitoba. Its focus is on the practice of engineering and geoscience by members who have a Filipino background; while its purpose is to endeavor to encourage and assist in the registration and licensing of individuals who are qualified to become part of the chapter; support professional development within the chapter and increase chapter member engagement with the Association. The chapter is the first ethnic-based, non-geographical chapter vetted and recognized by Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.
During the AGM, the new set of Executive Officers took their oaths of office led by Ramon Buenaventura, EIT who chairs the Nomination/Election Committee. The new Executive Officers are Jun Tapia, P.Eng. – Chair, Michael Villanueva, P.Eng. – Vice Chair; Allen Samson, P.Eng. – Secretary, Chris Basilio, P.Eng. – Treasurer; Roy San Buenaventura, EIT; Norman Padilla, EIT; Nonie Generoso, P.Eng.; Bless Ramos, EIT and Ray Sator, P.Eng. – Ex-Officio.
