QUEENS OF THE ICE CASTLES
The cold never bothered them! The enormous handcrafted Ice Castles MB experience at The Forks is now open. Yshi & Zane Jacinto chilling in front of a large ice wall and arches in the LED-lighted ice castle maze. The attraction seems like scenes out of Disney’s Frozen movie in real life with giant tunnels, caves, slides and all made out from ice.- January 5-20, 2018

KIDFISH ICE DERBY

WINTER FUN FOR EVERYONE
Winter is in full swing at the Forks as Kathrine Umali and Jun-Jun Dalisay frolic in front of one of the newest warming huts – Golden Bison, design from Mexico. THE JOY OF READING
“I Love To Read Month” kicked off at Meadows West School earlier this month as Energy 106’s DJ DLo read “Giraffes Can’t Dance” to the entire school assembly. Teachers and students at Meadows West School are working on reading projects all month long including book donations and charitable efforts helping other schools during “I Love To Read Month.”- February 20-March 5, 2018

THE JOY OF READING
Twenty-five little girls came together for a heartwarming event that helped grant Nicki Garcia’s wishes as she fights Stage 3B cervical cancer. With the support, generosity of sponsors, event organizers and ticket sales, the event raised over $5,900. WAAY OF LIFE
Team Red and Team Blue battling for the ball during the Jr Tykes championship game. WAAY Basketball capped off its 2017- 2018 season last Sunday with exciting championship games at Tec Voc School and continues to highlight the talented youth basketball players in the Filipino community. The co-ed youth league runs November to March for children aged between 5-15 years old.- March 20-April 5, 2018

VLeague Winnipeg kicked off their 3rd season with opening ceremonies at Canadian Mennonite University on March 24th. Jeth Reyes and his two Waverley Mitsubishi teams – Exclipse Cross & PHEV Generals are among the many sponsored corporate teams in the league. VLeague season 3 runs to the end of June.- April 5-20, 2018

BUILT BY FAITH
St. Peter’s Grand Choir stands at the foot of the stage in the newly built Petrus Hall. The new multipurpose hall has been a labour of love, commitment and faith by the Christian community at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church. The community blessed the new hall with an opening mass, blessing and an evening gala dinner featuring a 6-course dinner by Masterchef Jeremy Senaris.- April 20-May 5, 2018

ANCOP WALK RAISES THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR HOUSING AND SCHOLARSHIP
The Assiniboine Park was a busy place Saturday, August 11, as people of all ages joined the ANCOP Winnipeg Walk. Through the supervision of the Couples For Christ and affiliate groups, the annual activity raises funds for child scholarship, shelter and other basic needs of poor families in developing countries such as the Philippines.- August 20-September 5, 2018

GARMENT WORKERS’ 50TH ANNIVERSARY
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Filipino Garment Workers Association and back in 1968 sparked the growth of Winnipeg’s Filipino community.
